"The Psalms - 150 Metrical Psalms for Singing to Well-known Hymn Tunes" by Martin Leckebusch, published by Kevin Mayhew, is a lovely music edition for those interested in new songs inspired by the biblical book of psalms. Do not be fooled by the title in to thinking it the psalter in contemporary language, adapted to fit the metrical rhythms of hymn tunes. (As indeed, can be found in modern hymn books for many of the original psalms). As the synopsis above suggests, these are new lyrics "inspired by", not of, the psalms. Some clearly relate to the original psalms of Holy Scripture, whilst others bear little apparent resemblance. However, they are faithful praise and prayer and a valuable addition for anyone interested in a new set of contemporary psalm-style songs.
