This is a fantastic book, intelligent, articulate and rooted – the only problem some might have, given it is the Archbishop of Canterbury’s 2009 Lent Book, is that it is rooted in catholic tradition and based around the Eucharist. For some this will make it a little inaccessible. However it is a very well written and engaging book that accesses not just the eucharist tradition but the concept of community, of being church, of what it really means, or should mean, to participate. This really is a book that is perfect for Lent because it makes you think about the traditions of the church and about the activity of being Christian and participating in the ritual journey. Well worth reading for anyone who wants to consider what it means to be part of a community.
