The book of choice for THE BIG LENT READ 2021

How can we convey the love of God to our neighbours in a post-Christian world that has largely forgotten the gospel of Jesus Christ?

In Living His Story, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book 2021, Hannah Steele uncovers liberating and practical ways of sharing the gospel story afresh. With warmth and encouragement, She shows us how we can live Jesus’ story in our own lives simply by being the people God made us and allowing people to be drawn to him through our natural gifts.

Living His Story is a Lent devotional that will change the way you think about evangelism, show how ideally suited it is for the world we live in and fill you with confidence in sharing God’s love with the people around you.

Set out in six sessions to take you through Lent, each chapter of the 2021 Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book can be used as a single study for individuals or small groups to prepare for Easter. It will help you find space to see evangelism from a new practical perspective.

I bought this book to take part in our joint Anglican/Methodist Lent study, which is working its way through, chapter by chapter. I have always felt the Cof E doesn't do enough to encourage its members to speak about their faith. Most of us are happy to think that we show our faith by the way we live our lives - but that can end up earning us a good reputation as kind, responsible people without any indication that it is God who helps us be such people. We get the glory, not God. So I welcome this book's encouragement to us to speak as well as act. The videos connected to it are worth watching too. I think reading the book with others is a good thing - encouraging exchange of reactions and experiences.

It’s interesting but I wanted a book to use as a lent course for a varied aged congregation. We usually use a film and discuss that. We are using zoom and a number of people have volunteered to lead. The book didn’t lend itself to our audience. I am not saying it isn’t excellent but not suitable for us. Need it a bit simpler.
