There are six studies, each contains an integral leader's guide giving detailed background and helps, opening icebreakers, suggested prayers and discussion starters. Jesus, the Son of God, did not function from His position of deity when He was here on earth. He laid aside His deity and took up our humanity. Although He experienced our weaknesses, He was anointed by the Holy Spirit and was therefore prepared for purpose.

The period of Lent represents the forty days which Jesus spent in the wilderness before the commencement of His ministry.     Over the years CWR has published a large number of superb Bible studies on both books of the Bible, issues and on the season of the Church. Prepared for Purpose is another of these in their Cover to Cover series. Using the concept spoken of by Paul in Philippians 2 verses 6 to 8 that Jesus emptied himself of his Godness and became subject to the limitation of humanity and was able to do nothing by himself, Trevor Partridge looks at the role of the Holy Spirit in empowering Jesus. Of course Jesus had something that no one else had or has. Jesus was sinless. But putting this aside, Partridge, shows us that the Bible teaches us that we are able to call upon the same Holy Spirit that empowered Jesus. At the start I mentioned that this was another superb study guide by CWR. I would qualify this by saying that this is a superb guide for groups but as this is a six session course it would be hard, but not impossible, for many people to do this as their own personal Lent study.
