I agree with Jonathan Aitken quoted on the back cover, who says this book ‘deserves to become a classic of human rights literature’. On the Side of the Angels is straightforward to read, and not too long, but is a comprehensive setting out of the position of human rights throughout the world, and predominantly the lack of them, and the Christian church’s position in the fight for those rights. Unfortunately so often the various denominations have been noticeable by their silence in many cases, leaving it to brave individuals or groups to do what we all, as the body of Christ, should be doing. The authors are in firsthand situations and therefore speak with authority and it would be well for all Christians to read this book and take whatever action they can: anything but do nothing!
