A lighthearted, sensitive and realistic look at the world of Christian dating, this is the true story of one woman's determined search for the man of her dreams, with plenty of practical advice on the world of Christian dating.

Rebecca K. Maddox is 30 years old. After many years as a single Christian woman, she embarked on a dating experiment: to go on twenty first dates, with twenty men, met in twenty different ways. Over the course of a year, Rebecca was very nearly compromised on the dance floor, stranded in a muddy village and the catcher of a bouquet. She spent hours trawling profiles on the Internet and waited nervously for the results.

She was driven in a rusty car with no floor and chased by an angry granny. She narrowly escaped a squirting tiger and a falling pigeon, attempted to eat a variety of foodstuffs while trying to look attractive, and struggled in and out of her glad rags in the toilets of approximately ten trains to London. She was confused, amused, frustrated and dazzled in equal measure.

20 First Dates is Rebecca K Maddox account of her experience and endurance or a situation more and more familiar to Christian women as finding a suitable partner becomes more and more difficult in the fragmented, disconnected and secular society of the twenty-first century. 20 First dates will give you practical tips to avoid getting hurt, encouragement that all is not lost and help you put the whole dating things into your Christian perspective.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This was such a refreshing book to read. Rebecca Maddox writes from the perspective of a young, single Christian, to encourage those who are wanting to find the love of their life, but who need help in how, when and where to start. She embarks on an innovative process of setting herself the target of going on 20 first dates with 20 men whom she has met in various ways. Some are disastrous, some are boring, but others are interesting and have potential. Rebecca writes with such enthusiasm that even the most timorous of readers would find it hard to resist her call to "get out there and see where it leads you". Although it is written by a woman dating men, the advice is, on the whole, applicable to men wanting to date women. Thoroughly up to date, the book includes advice on speed dating and Internet sites, and explores potential traps and pitfalls of dating. The final section seeks to empower the reader to feel that he / she has the emotional steadiness and self-belief to go out in search of a partner. The energy and the humour with which this book is written is empowering in itself. Had I not already been married to Mr Right for 50 years I would certainly be "out there searching" in response to this unusual and most entertaining book.
