Marriage is a divine institution established by the Creator, Almighty God, right from the beginning of creation. It is purposed to be a lifetime relationship between two only - a male and a female; designed for the happiness and joy for man and for the fulfillment of God's purpose for creation; as man assumes the full responsibility of adhering to the precepts and principles of the divinely structured arrangement. It is therefore of paramount importance that man is fully furnished with the knowledge of the divine rules and responsibilities associated with marital relationships before engaging in marriage. As an institution, marriage provides a unique environment where spouses have unlimited access and opportunity to discover each other in an in-depth fashion; learning to accommodate deficiencies, to love, to cherish, care, understand; to trust and rely on each other by being open and honest with one another; based on the biblical injunction as written in the book of Ge. 2:24-25. Failure to appreciate this fact, either as a result of ignorance or neglect may result to an abrupt end of a journey that is supposed the be a life-time affair; in an undesirably painful action described as divorce. Divorce is the unfortunate and premature end of marriage union that results from ignorance, lust, greed, selfishness, carelessness, impatience and pride on the part of one or both spouses. These attitudes negatively work to impinge against the successful and blissful experience in marriage relationship. The devil is responsible for these negative emotions.
This book has attempted to explain the concepts of marriage in its proper perspectives. The purpose of marriage and the associated responsibilities are also highlighted.
The subject of divorce, its causes and consequences have been analyzed. Adultery (fornication), which constitutes the only reason whereby the Bible recommends divorce has been discussed in greater details in recognition of the numerous adverse social, moral, physical, spiritual, financial and emotional consequences of infidelity on the cheating and cheated spouses, the families, the Church and the society at large, have also been discussed. Statistics show that up to 50 percent of married women and 60 percent of married men have committed adultery at a time or the other. As a matter of fact, it is said that adultery is so common these days that tha question is no longer who is involved; but rather who is not? One wouldn't have believed that such an irresponsible act would be such a common practice. The devil is really at work! The bible says, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it", Jn. 8:44.
This book is born out of concern and desire to save, at least, some among the so many marriages that may disintegrate as a result of this single wickedness; and equally save their souls from hell fire through the gospel of repentance. As the chief killer of marriage, adultery should be avoided at all costs. Some people who have had personal experiences in adulterous affairs (the cheater and the cheated), and have recovered from the traumatic painful experiences; and also had the courage and concern for others, have been able to share their experiences for others to learn from. With due acknowledgment, some of those articles have reproduced here to help our understanding so that we may make the necessary amendments in our lives for improved marital experiences. Limited advices and counseling have been offered. Repentance is the ultimate solution to divorce. Every mature adult may find some benefits by carefully reading through book.
