Jo interviewed eleven very different couples for this book. The theme is not marriage, rather how to reach the decision to marry. The couples represent various situations, and include a couple whose marriage was arranged, an older couple, and a couple for whom previous marriages had failed. Jo comments: 'There is no "right way" of choosing whom to marry. I believe God gives us enormous discretion. I want to talk about the enduring value of marriage as an institution, the factors that go into finding a spouse, and the way we can discern whether we can make it work. "This delightful and entertaining book includes thought-provoking questions at the end of each chapter. It would be ideal reading for a young couple who are wondering whether this is the one".

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

Books about marriage are not normally ones I'd take off the shelf to read, concerned that they'd either be too frothy white lace and orange blossom, or too deeply analytical. This book, refreshingly, falls into neither category, as Jo Swinney's breezy style informs without preaching. She interviews eleven very different couples to gather information on how they got together, and to conclude how their approach should be successful. Adding her own thoughts, observations and questions for couples, the book illustrates that marriages from those arranged by parents to whirlwind romances, are as different as all humans are individuals.
