In 1996 I embarked on a sabbatical journey to visit places associated with Celtic saints – and whilst at them to take photographs and in the evenings, to write mediations associated with the places and the images. It was therefore with some joyful anticipation and preparation that I embarked on a review of this small book. I was not disappointed! Superb photographs – very clearly portraying an island I have visited on numerous occasions since 1996 and really evocative of the spirit of Columba and his followers which still pervade Lindisfarne. I can immediately think of three uses for this book apart from personal meditation: To seek out the exact spot at which each image was captured and meditate there. To give to someone whom you would like to encourage to visit Holy Island – or just as a spiritual gift. To take away as a spiritual reminder of one of God’s very special places.
