A chapter on Praying in the Spirit inevitably considers tongues. These may give you ‘edification advantage’, but are ‘not a sure sign of spirituality’, and it would be, admits Kendall, a mistake to say you cannot pray in the Spirit if you don’t pray in tongues. Two chapters on the ‘mystery’ of prayer deal with answers and unanswered prayer. So the author does not avoid problems!
