No one is born knowing how to pray.

Jesus’ disciples, people who followed his every step and word, still had to ask for help. Imagine that. They asked the son of God how to pray. Asking how to pray can be intimidating. In fact, asking for help in any circumstance is scary.

And who would you ask, anyway?

Written for normal people, How to Pray is a simple guide to prayer that fills in the blanks you have - and it comes from the perfect person to teach prayer. Pete Greig.

Pete Greig sees prayer as the basis for everything. Not just everything he does. Everything. He is the founder of the 24/7 Prayer movement, a collection of people who decided that prayer should never have a pause button. Together, they created a movement that, you guessed it, prayed all day every day. 24 hours, seven days a week. As well as this, his prayer work has reached countries all over the world, transforming the lives of clubbers in Ibiza to the destitute in places such as Mexico and Dehli.

As far as questions about prayer go, Pete Greig is the person to ask.

He’s seen it all because he’s done it all.

If you have ever met someone who is totally and utterly passionate about something, you’ll know that it can be infectious. Spend time with a total bibliophile and you’ll come away with a reading list; hang out with a football fanatic and you’ll end up understanding the intricacies of the offside rule (hopefully!). Spend time listening to Pete Greig and you’ll soon understand why prayer is so important.

Passionate people can’t help but share their passion.

For Pete Greig, seeing how much prayer has changed his life has given him a wild enthusiasm for everyone to experience it first-hand.

Assuming no prior knowledge, this new book is Prayer 101. How to Pray guides you through prayer with confidence and clarity. No jargon, no nonsense, no difficulty.

Just a simple guide to prayer in normal, everyday language.

The simplicity, clarity, and depth Pete talks about prayer is remarkable. Whatever barriers you're facing when it comes to a vibrant prayer life, this book will help you move beyond them and walk in a richer relationship with Christ. - Margaret Feinberg, speaker and author of 'Taste and See'

If you're like me, you may have prayed the Lord's Prayer many times. It has staying power, doesn't it? But that's not surprising, because it's how Jesus teaches us to pray. And it turns out that when it comes to prayer, Jesus is a great teacher-praying for him is not fancy or formal, but loving and plainspoken. Pete Greig is a respected authority on exactly this kind of praying: simple, honest, straightforward, from the heart. Even when we're asking God for what we want, we're giving him what he wants: our hearts. How to Pray will get you started on a lifelong, and life-giving, practice. - Mark Batterson, New York Times best-selling author of The Circle Maker, Lead Pastor of National Community Church

Pete Greig is a gift to the world. This book uses the revolutionary prayer of Jesus as a grounded guide to ignite our spirits to the heart of God. As you read these pages let these words infuse you with a holy desire for God's kingdom come! - Danielle Strickland, author of 'The Ultimate Exodus'

It is a true delight throughout and an immensely helpful one too. Already I have experienced it refreshing and reinvigorating my own prayer life. - The Methodist Recorder

Is there anything more primal than prayer? We reach out to God, and we hope God is reaching out to us in return. Pete Greig is unwilling to surrender this basic human impulse to any of the cultured complexities that we tend to build up around it. With How to Pray he helps us enter into a habit of prayer that is as life-giving as it is simple. - Ian Morgan Cron, author of 'The Road Back to You'

For many years now, Pete Greig has been teaching us how to pray. Since the inadvertent start of the 24-7 prayer movement nearly two decades ago, Pete's life and witness have been a provocation to the church to enter into more deeply into the mystery, magnitude, agony, and beauty of prayer. In How to Pray: A Simple Guide For Ordinary People, Pete brings the best of two decades worth of insights to us in a deceptively straightforward and endearingly honest way. Savor this book. Then put it into practice. Your life and your world will be better for it. - Andrew Arndt, New Life Church, Colorado Springs, CO

The new book from Pete Greig, author of GOD ON MUTE and DIRTY GLORY, and one of the founders of global movement 24-7 Prayer - a straightforward, practical guide on how to pray.

Everyone prays.

Nothing matters more.

But no one finds it easy.

We need a little help.

Pete Greig has been teaching on prayer - and leading a non-stop prayer movement - for twenty years. Now, for the first time, he puts his life's work into a response to the question everybody ultimately asks: how do I pray?

This down-to-earth introduction to life's greatest adventure will guide you deeper in your relationship with God, helping you to become more centred and still, clearer in discerning God's voice, more able to make sense of your disappointments and more expectant for miraculous breakthroughs too. It's full of honest, hard-won wisdom interspersed with real-life stories - some humorous, others moving - to equip and inspire your prayer life. Journeying through the Lord's Prayer, and accompanied by online videos from The Prayer Course, which has been used by more than a million people, it unpacks nine essential aspects of prayer: stillness, adoration, petition, intercession, perseverance, contemplation, listening, confession and spiritual authority.

From one of today's most visionary communicators, for those who've been praying for years as well as those who want to pray but don't know where to begin, How to Pray is the simple, life-changing guide you've been waiting for.

I bought 3 copies of this book to give to new members at our church, as I thought the description made them sound very readable. I haven't had any feedback from the recipients yet.

I enjoyed the content and the simple P.R.A.Y, prompt approach and felt it me presented new ways to connect. The last chapter, its approach in seeing prayer as a battle perhaps unhelpful to me. Whilst finding faith in doubt and happiness our intimacy is never lacking and support to be diligent, attentive, regular, disciplined is a more helpful suggestion. Otherwise a good read, and glad I read it. ✝️

This book was so easy to read (I'll go back to it again). Being a "normal person," I appreciate the honest and vulnerable approach, and the joy of knowing that I can get close to my Heavenly Father and being able to hear His voice .
