Sam is feeling pushed out from the busy world of adults and from the world of her contemporaries who use exclusion and inclusion as a means of exercising power.

Whilst out Christmas shopping with her parents. Sam meets Old Granny Time. Together they travel through time, speeding off into the future to experience Sam's own retirement party and journeying back over 2000 years to witness the Nativity.

Sam soon learns that there are other ways of measuring our own worth. This proves to be a life-changing experience - and not only for Sam but for many others, too.
