An Unlikely Missionary Dispels the Myth That
Miracles Happen Only in Africa
Michele Perry may be an unlikely person to start a missionary orphanage in war-torn Sudan. Born without her left hip and leg, she is no stranger to overwhelming impossibility. She's learned from childhood to rely fully on God, who constantly surprises her--and she and her Sudanese children, more than one hundred of them, have witnessed him moving in miraculous and wondrous ways again and again.
Here she shares some of these amazing, inspiring stories. More than that, she shows how readers can genuinely, fully experience God in their everyday lives--whether in Africa or at home, wherever they are. She helps them understand what he looks like, what it means to hear his voice, what it's like to see a vision, and how to recognize the holy in the ordinary. With these practical keys, believers will be able to open the floodgates of life-changing, supernatural encounters with God.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

Not so much a sequel as a companion book to Michele's previous volume, Love Has a Face. While there is some autobiographical content here, the focus is firmly on awakening the reader to the work of the Holy Spirit; "...an invitation to enter into God's fullness for yourself." Each chapter of anecdote and explanation ends with a prayer, discussion questions and an "activation exercise". It is all very readable, once you get used to the writing style, though by no means is it 'dumbed down'. Like all amazingly anointed Christians, Michele is convinced that everyone can have the relationship she has with Jesus. The truth, which she maybe skates over a trifle, is that like any other relationship it takes time, sacrifice and commitment – there are no short cuts or magic forms of prayer. We read some wonderful testimonies – the time the community was saved from rebel attack when they worshipped and prayed is inspirational – but the clue is in the title. This can only be an invitation; it is up to us, and how much of God we truly desire in our safe, comfortable Western lives, that will make the difference.
