Acclaimed author Frederica Mathewes-Green takes us through a typical Divine Liturgy in her little parish of Holy Cross in Baltimore, setting of her well-loved book Facing East. Interspersed with reflections on the liturgy and the Orthodox faith are accounts of adventures around the country. In all the places she visits and all the people she meets, Frederica finds insights about faith, American life, and what it means to be human, and she shares these insights with the wit, pathos, and folksy friendliness that have made her one of the most beloved spiritual writers in America.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

Frederica Mathewes-Green’s style is chatty and anecdotal – it might perhaps be a little bit of a surprise to those who have bought what they hoped would be a ‘spiritual’ book. However, the life of Christian discipleship should never be dull or grim faced! There’s a great deal of warm emotion, wisdom and humour in this book. The only problem that people on ‘this side of the Pond’ might have is with the cultural references to American suburban society. Nevertheless, if you can cope with these, there are some very engaging treatments of ancient Orthodox theology and modern Orthodox life.
