The 'Joshua Generation' is a term well known to many, describing those currently in their 20s as God's answer to Generation X. The Joshua Generation's calling has been to break into new territories for God's kingdom.
But what of the generation that is following after them? Enter the Josiah Generation.

This book identifies the unique calling and characteristics of the rising generation. Olly Goldenberg points to a growing revolution in children's ministry, where children are not seen merely as the potential leaders of the Church of tomorrow, but as a vital, relevant part of the Church's ministry now.

Examining the life of Josiah - who became king of Judah while still a boy - and recounting powerful real-life testimonies, this book aims to help prepare the Church to expect great things from this rising generation. They have a call on them to do amazing things for God and to shape the culture of revival.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This slim book is probably a must read for anyone who works with children in the Church as it compares the life of the young reformer King Josiah - who returned the people of Israel back to their faith and covenant with God - with the mandate and blessing that God has placed on our Children and Young People to lead not only each other closer to God but to speak to and lead all of us closer to God. It’s excellently done with no major theological words or context but instead it’s a simple, honest easy to read book that uses real life instances of children and their faith reaching out, each page demonstrates the point Jesus made and we so often forget that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the Children, and only by being like them do we gain it. Children really do have much to teach us, not least that sharing faith should be easy, personal and something we do naturally and without thought. I think this is a great book, with a really important point to be made, excellent for Christian parents to read, as well as any involved in Children’s Ministry.

Have you ever read a book where your spirit cries Yes! Yes! Yes! to every page? That was my experience as I read 'The Josiah Generation'. It made me weep. It made me hungry to see God's purposes accomplished in the lives of my children - for them to be the Kingdom warriors and rulers that God has created them to be, taking His Church forward with vision and power. From Ryan's clear and compassionate response to someone who was bullying him, to the young man who chose to put God before football, the book is filled with real-life stories of children and young people who have understood and lived out their heritage as heirs of the King and co-workers in His Kingdom. If you want to know God's plan for His Church today and His call on the lives of the children and young people in your church family, if you want to empower the 'Josiah Generation' and not stand in their way, read this book.
