In its first edition, this pocket guide to the sacred Hebridean island of Iona sold 7500 copies.

Every Wednesday, there is a pilgrimage around the island and this guide follows its route, stopping at all the principal sites to reflect on the island’s history rooted in Celtic spirituality, and to pray for the needs of the world. Iona is not a place of escape – its spirituality today is focused on justice and peace for the world.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

Interesting mix of factual guidebook with spiritual interludes at various points. A good introduction for those new to Iona with words which will probably provoke thought and perhaps action: the section on ‘the Nunnery’ is a good historical/spiritual correction \[and almost made me cheer!\] The inclusion and valuing of the local community is very heartening, as the influx of so many pilgrims must have great impact on their lives. We need to be brought back to remembrance of our locale and those who are part of the everyday life of any place of pilgrimage.
