The Holy Bible was translated into English by Crossway Books, which also maintains the text's copyright, and released the original version of the book in 2001.
History about the perceived sloppiness of style and content of recently released English Bible translations, as well as the apparent trend toward gender-neutral language in translations like the TNIV and the New Revised Standard Version, among others, sparked the start of work on this translation (primarily among Evangelical Christians) .
