    Dr Tan feels that the function of the Jubilee in the Bible was to prevent excesses in wealth dominating society. As a student he and a group of other Christian students established a community which set out to apply the Jubilee principles in every aspect of their day to day living. Although the community has now disbanded as members moved away, Dr Tan looks at how the Jubilee principal can and has been applied in several different projects today. He shows from church history how some Christians have embraced the principle of Jubilee in the way they lived and distributed their resources. The book is an excellent read and also looks at God’s plan for Israel and Israel in rejecting God as the Lord Almighty also rejected his desire for social welfare by the use of tithing, Sabbath and Jubilee years. The book challenges the way we use our resources that God has given us. I would fully recommend you to buy, read it and think about the issues he raises.
