Flavell's fascinating look at the love feast, a ‘lost' meal, explores its extensive history and extols its wonders in an inspirational call to revive an act which is prevalent in the New Testament Church, yet sadly ignored by many churches today.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

The Love Feast or ‘Agape’ is a Christian fellowship meal that recalls the meals in the New Testament Church. It offers fellowship and community in the name of Christ, originally the agape and the Holy Communion were one meal, but over the years they became separated. This little book reintroduces to us the idea of a meal that can be shared by all ages and by all denominations of Christians. Anyone can lead, it does not have to be a formal minister and it is very straightforward to organise and share. All in all this book leads us through the whole process telling us how the feast originated, its reintroduction in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and how to re-enact it effectively today. Included are many resource opportunities, much detail in the readings and prayers, an effective ‘how to’ prepare for the actual service and meal, music, books to read, songs to sing. Altogether this is a great little resource, even if your church is not yet quite prepared for the actual process, it would be useful to read up and be prepared!
