Daily Prayer is the Daily Office of the Church of England, embracing the three key elements of praise, intercession and engagement with Scripture. It is offered as a resource for all members of the Anglican Church. It includes: Forms of Penitence; The Lord's Prayer; The Apostles' Creed; Prayer During the Day; Morning and Evening Prayer; Night Prayer (Compline); Prayers, Collects and Refrains; Canticles; The Psalter.

The services may be prayed individually, in groups, churches or in religious communities. Drawing on the daily Bible readings laid out in the Common Worship Lectionary, they allow Anglicans to link their personal devotions into the shared prayer life of the Church.

As well as the more traditional services of Morning, Evening, and Night Prayer, Daily Prayer also offers Prayer During the Day, especially designed for those new to regular liturgical prayer. Each service contains the three key elements of praise, intercession and engagement with Scripture. Prayers are included for both Ordinary Time and the seasons of the Christian year.

It contains:

It is strange to think that the Anglican Communion had to wait until 2005 for a book like this. In the Roman Catholic tradition there have for hundreds of years been missals, daily offices and breviaries that provide a wide range of daily and seasonal prayers all in a single volume. For Catholics, these are not just for Priests, Monks and Nuns; the laity are encouraged to establish a pattern of daily prayer with the help of a comprehensive single volume of prayers that is easy to carry around. All of the prayers and associated extracts from the Bible contained in this book are available elsewhere, but one would need to find them in many different places. The book has 900 pages and as well as the Psalms contains hundreds of prayers, collects and Bible readings. These are linked to the relevant days and seasons of the Church year and are fully cross-referenced and indexed. Some might prefer the BCP/King James translations: modern liturgical English is used throughout, but this rarely jars the ear. Although this has been conceived as something primarily of use to Anglicans, I have no doubt that Christians of other traditions would find much of interest and relevance in this beautifully produced book. Finally, the book is designed by the great Derek Birdsall, so the typography is both useful and beautiful (Gill Sans typeface), and there are six coloured bookmarks to keep track of the different sections. I think this is also available in a leather binding which would make a wonderful gift for Confirmation or for a Christian friend or relation. in one book aim to In many ways similar to the RyhAn Anglican version of
