This addition to the growing series of commentaries on the worship of the Church of England’s revised liturgy - Common Worship - is the second volume devoted to the ‘temporale’. The format of the volumes is clear and helpful. In addition to the liturgical background material explaining the Lent/Easter/Pentecost cycle, along with much else that takes the reader through to Autumn, there are recipes (the food imagery is well chosen) for worship in hypothetical churches. It is very helpful to know the origins of the contents of Times and Seasons! One nagging doubt remains. Was it wise and culturally appropriate to devote so much space to the agricultural year?
