    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

You can see by the sub-title why it has to be in this category. It has passages for both Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter and cannot be in both these categories . I read Jim Cotter’s introduction first and loved his last sentence ‘Whilst we hope you will not miss an important appointment, we do hope you will say, Is that the time? I’d forgotten all about the clock.’ In the preface to this new edition Martyn Percy writes 'fresh material has been added for Christmas and Easter, drawn from sermons and articles , which we hope will provide further enrichment'. There is much here that can be read and digested on your own, but I would love to be part of worship where the liturgies I have read here were used with a group of fellow worshippers. I was able to let my imagination enter into what was intended, but actually being part of a group would be so much more fulfilling. All the passages are thought provoking; indeed I needed to read and re-read some of them. The many quotations were often new to me and one or two of the poems I felt compelled to read aloud to my long suffering husband, they just needed to be spoken rather than read silently.
