Worship 4 Today is a three-part course specially designed to train and equip all who lead worship in the local church - those with prior experience or none, musicians and the non-musical, ordained or lay, those who lead the prayers, operate the technology, employ the creative arts, or participate in any other way. Developed and tested in the Diocese of Sheffield over the last five years, Worship 4 Today is now recognised as a national training resource and its publication is fully supported by the Liturgical Commission of the Church of England. The course: * Nurtures a foundation of personal worship, developing new expertise and skills * Provides a rich Biblical and historical background * Builds understanding of different worship styles across the church Part 2 focuses on developing key skills. It explores the role of music in worship using the Psalms, different worship patterns in the Church of England, and how to build a worship team in your local church.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This book covers sessions 5 - 8 of the course. Being part 2 of the series, it launches straight into the sessions, preceded only by a 3 page summary table showing the structure of the course. This part of the course is more practical than the previous one, but is just as thorough: topics are covered at reasonable depth, and the style is consistent with the previous part. As before, each session has Teachers' Notes, full and detailed lesson plans, resource lists, and photocopiable handouts (though the copies on the CD—which also contains copies of all the Powerpoint presentations in .ppt format—will print and copy much better than ones you will get by pressing the book onto a copier glass). The book comes with a licence for owners of the book to use the copiable materials "within their organisation". The sessions in this part (over 220 A4 pages) are:- 5 The Role of Music in Worship: the session looks at a wide range of genres, and includes a comprehensive historical review of the English / Anglican choral tradition. Despite the title of session 7, the course is arguably at its most Anglican here! 6 Worship in the Psalms: by contrast, this session, which includes psalm writing, has elements which are useful way beyond the confines of the course. 7 Patterns of Worship in the Anglican Church: includes much that is generally useful and is not as difficult to adapt for other denominations as the title might suggest. 8 Building a Worship Team: Again Anglican in its orientation, but nevertheless of general relevance. The session includes elements of PA/technology advice, but these are superficial and less sure-footed than the rest of the course. It concludes with a little elementary music theory. Each session is designed to last for half a day.
