Worship is not something that the church does, it is an encounter through which Christians are equipped to bring transformation to the world. This second volume in an important new series on worldwide Anglicanism draws on examples from many parts of the Anglican Communion to address the subject of liturgical formation: how liturgy forms Christians for participation in God's work in the world, as well as the formation of Christians for worship and of those who lead worship. Voices from the UK, Africa, the US, Canada and the Philippines consider key aspects of liturgical formation: connecting the liturgy with local contexts, how we learn about God and ourselves through worship, the connection between liturgy and doing justice, all-age engagement in worship, the role of music in liturgical formation, training those who lead liturgical celebration, and more.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

‘Shape’ a word of the C of E at this juncture of the 21st century. It is used in a number of contexts; in this instance the authors of this collection of papers (from the International Anglican Liturgical Consultation of 2003) use it with reference to liturgical formation. The people of God are formed by many factors; one of them is liturgy, and the contributors seek to explain how this works in practice. The book is not intended merely for internal Anglican consumption however, as the Archbishop of Canterbury makes clear in his forward, (this is the second volume of the series), it is hoped that this volume will make its contribution to the on-going task of identifying Anglican identity.
