    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

It is perhaps appropriate that in the year when we celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of Darwin’s birth that a book seeking to discover the involvement of God in the story of evolution should have been published. The author Diarmuid O’Murchu, attempts to provide an understanding of today’s world and the presence of God throughout the life of man on earth by weaving together anthropology, history and spirituality in such a way as to allow the reader to grasp the meaning of their inter-relationship, one to the other. Beginning appropriately, at the beginning of human evolution some seven million years ago in Africa, where we walked on two legs, the author considers human development, social, technological, agricultural, both religious and pagan and offers interesting insights into the possible future direction evolution might take us. He highlights how over the seven million year time span, humans have collaborated with and maintained a close relationship with a creative God. He argues that we learn best when we learn together and act intelligently when we share our uniqueness and not when we hoard it and attempt to control others. Looking at the development of human thought and considering the origins of religion as well as the part that Jesus played in the evolution story, the book offers a wide ranging, controversial, and thought provoking journey through prehistory and history to today’s time and beyond.
