This book in the SPCK International Study Guide series consists of fourteen articles, largely by Asian scholars on aspects of Christian theology as seen in an Asian context. The editor is a priest in the Church of South India and lectures in Christian Social Ethics at the United Theological College, Bangalore. Each contributor is an expert in their field.
It explores Christianity as it is found in China, Hong Kong, India and other countries. Within these countries it covers areas such as Interfaith Dialogue, Liberation Theology, Feminist Theologies, Indigenous Theology and Pentecostalism.
There are specific chapters on topics such as Asian Christologies and the unique way in which Christian Dalit Theology has developed and given expression to the voice of this group.
Although the books in this series are designed primarily to provide information and resources to students coming from within the particular context of the topics, nevertheless this volume certainly provides insight and challenges to any theologians seeking to discover how Christianity has taken root and developed in countries very different from the European milieu with which it is customarily associated.
