As a research resource it is clearly written and for those whose vocation requires a working knowledge across faiths, this will be a useful addition to the library. I was a little disappointed because I had hoped for something more societal and historical around childlessness or the promise of offspring, but although much of the source material is ancient, the questions are framed in a very modern way and to suit modern enquiry. And for many, that will be its great strength.
