This accessible introduction to Christian worldview explores the question of how Christians can live faithfully at the crossroads of the story of Scripture and postmodern culture.Ideal for undergraduate students and laypeople, "Living at the Crossroads" opens with a brief summary of the biblical story and the most fundamental beliefs of Scripture. The authors then tell the story of Western culture from the classical period to postmodernity, before providing an analysis of how Christians live in the tension that exists at the intersection of the biblical and cultural stories. They proceed to tease out the implications for key areas of life, such as education, scholarship, economics, politics, and church. The result is a deeply thoughtful yet approachable text that draws on the rich tradition of reformational thinking but contextualizes it to a postmodern setting for a contemporary audience.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

A worthwhile read, which aims to “spark Christians’ imaginations with the magnitude of a Christ-centred worldview”. It studies living the Gospel of the Kingdom in the modern world, where we stand at the crossroads of two incompatible stories. The authors explore Orr and Kuyper’s adoption, more than a century ago, for mission purposes, of the German philosophical notion of ‘worldview’, defined here as ‘basic beliefs embedded in a shared grand story’. The Christian worldview is a Christocentric one, embedded in the Bible’s story of Creation, Sin and Restoration. The world’s story is one of modern and postmodern humanism and globalisation. The authors emphasise that salvation (‘restoration’) is comprehensive in scope. Consistently with that, they offer thoughtful perspectives (a Christian worldview ‘with legs’, they call this section) on areas of public life such as business, sport, education, politics, art, and scholarship. Read this, and be sparked!
