    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

Alister McGrath takes us on a journey. He sets out from a world of random chance, one with no overarching story other than one of happenstance as promulgated by New Atheism, and takes us step by step to the threshold of that place of ultimate consummation for which we long, found most plausibly in God. Each short chapter takes us further on that way. He describes his own dalliance with scientism, but discredits the notion that science can make ethical judgements or provide a tenable metanarrative for our existence. In the end, there is no final proof here, but a presentation of evidence, clearly, concisely, and with obvious conviction. His account is devoid of jargon, and he unpacks concepts with understandable honest summaries. For the searcher, there is here something to challenge sloppy thinking and superficial opinion. McGrath remains a cogent advocate of the Christian Faith for the twenty-first century. And he leaves us with a sense of wonder and awe that we are in such a place, yet accompanied by such a God – what more can one say.
