    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

Let's face it. Many of us Christians feel we have lost something of the vitality we had when we first set foot on that path, and we would like to recover it. John Pritchard wrote this book—which I'm happy now to see reissued—for people like us, and it provides plenty of helpful advice and encouragement for the reader who regrets the dimming of the spark of faith. Written in Pritchard's usual lucid and often humorous style, here are suggestions that will enrich prayer life, such as imaginative prayer, ‘taking a walk with God', meditation and silence. The next chapter, on approaches to the Bible, is equally constructive, introducing the Benedictine and the Ignatian methods, the Swedish and the African methods of Bible study. True, none of these things is new, but it's good to have them listed in such a clear way. Having discussed how to make a fresh start with prayer and with the Bible, Pritchard then tackles difficulties experienced with the Church, asking what it's for and what our role in it is? Finally, he addresses the question of a Christian lifestyle. You don't have to stay in the spiritual doldrums. There are things you can do and changes you can make in your attitudes and practice. I'm sure this book will stir you to take action!
