In the introduction to Quest Xian Christianity, Volume 1, we mentioned a concept called a "BUMP," a Biblical Unique Ministry Proposition. Here, we describe more of what that means, and we dig into the BUMP for Quest Xian. This idea is easily adapted to any ministry from a denomination or congregation to a small group fellowship or outreach. This book gets into more of Quest Xian's official beliefs and practices, our culture, and some interesting tools we use in support of that culture. Here, we will also explore some ideas with how we come to Scripture and what we seek to get out of it. We also talk about Sin and when and how we do or do not deal with it. We'll also explore the idea of Assertive Christianity, Defensive Christianity, and the Bubble. Just as legalism has a place, they each have a place. After a quick discussion on Spiritual Warfare, we explore a model for the Spirit, Soul, Body and Heart. This model is used in a great many ways. If you have a solid model for what we mean by Heart and Spirit, it gives a different level of meaning to Psalm 51:10 - "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." To that end, we talk about forgiveness and something we call a freedom technique. We add a few more Quest Xian cultural ideals before sharing a pre-founding document, an involved position paper titled Strength vs. Safety. You see, Quest Xian was founded in response to a call, but it faced opposition and criticism even before the ministry started. The document was initially produced as part of larger story of the founding of the ministry. Even fifteen years later, it's still an interesting exploration of what the ministry was intended to be in response to God's call. There are some mentions here of a few much larger ideas that are already entire books. Some positions we take as a church are found in lengthy series that require a significant foundation to get into. We have opted to introduce some of those ideas, and omit others. Despite the short introductions and other topics being reserved for other times, other books, or other formats, we ended up with two books where we originally intended just one. Quest Xian Christianity turned into two volumes rather than one when it became clear that we were assembling a single book that would be more than 400 pages. Will there be additional books in the series? None are planned, but it is entirely possible. It's important to remember that we are not telling anyone how they ought to conduct their own Christian walk. That said, we are hopeful that some of our material might help individual Christians, ministries, or churches in some way. That is why we are sharing. Blessings
