Here to help readers see both sides of the faith/science discussion
Science and Belief explores commonly understood scientific concepts
A fascinating insight into deeper issues that provides both sides of the case
Science and Belief – two opposing magnets in the modern world. Want to join the growing debate? This book isn't out to make a scientist or a believer out of you, but present all the facts and help you make up your own mind.
Accomplished scientist Russell Stannard produced and narrated a series for schools called, 'Science and Belief: The Big Issues', a 12 part series exploring all those confusing subjects. Russell has based this book on his series, delving deeper into the subjects where belief and science collide. Each chapter begins with common viewpoints plucked from interviewing the public and end with a set of questions for you to think over. These nine chapters are:
• Creation
• The Anthropic Principle
• Evolution
• Intelligent Design
• Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence
• Psychology
• Morality
• Miracles
• The Relationship Between Science and Belief
This book is not written for Mensa members. It's written for R.E. teachers, for preachers, for experienced Christians, for new believers, for youth workers, for business people, for the confused, and for the questioners. Anyone who wants to join the Science and Belief debate, read this book, learn the facts, decide for yourself, and have your say.
Professor Russell Stannard is an author and lecturer recognised for contributing to the understanding of science and religion, including the titles: 'Grounds for Reasonable Faith', and 'Science and the Renewal of Belief'. He was awarded an OBE for ‘contributions to physics, the Open University, and the popularisation of science’ (1998). For most of his life, Russell has contributed to the study surrounding the atom-smashing machines, like the hadron collider in Geneva, Switzerland.
