Drawing on his 17 years as a science teacher in secondary state schools and quoting extensively from the National Curriculum and standard text books, Paul Taylor identifies scientific theories that are presented as fact (such as the age of the universe) and proofs of evolution that have long been discredited (such as peppered moths changing colour). This work started life as a Master’s dissertation which means that some sections of the book are quite technical and written in a scholarly way. However the book is full of gems of information and insights that will open parents’ eyes as to what their children are taught. Paul Taylor is one of many Christians with a science background who accept the Genesis account of creation as fact. If you take a different view I would especially recommend you to read this book because Mr. Taylor is so measured and careful in all he says. His conclusions about children’s science education will be controversial to some but I encourage you to read the book before you reach your own conclusions.
