A great movie that inspires and informs

The dramatic, true story of C.S. Lewis' journey from committed atheist to reluctant believer begins with his turbulent childhood. After losing his mother to cancer and becoming estranged from his father, a young C.S. Lewis deems existence bleak and unfortunate. His tutelage under atheist William T. Kirkpatrick and his harrowing experiences in The Great War solidify his case for materialism until he befriends J.R.R. Tolkien and Hugo Dyson. His fellow intellectuals-all Christians-challenge him to consider the logical, mythological, and literary cases for Christianity, and Lewis must face a life-altering choice: to hold fast to materialism or to give his life to Jesus Christ.

Experience C.S. Lewis' profound journey from vigorous debunker of Christianity to become, as he said, "the most reluctant convert in all England." Through Max McLean's detailed and masterful performance, Lewis' story of grief, loss and redemption comes to life on screen in his own magnificent words. Filmed in and around Oxford, England, featuring Nicholas Ralph (All Creatures Great and Small) and directed by double BAFTA winner Norman Stone (BBC's Shadowlands).

A bit heavy to watch. Says it's suitable for 12yr old but i am not sure a 12yr old would understand it.

Very clever movie, and very powerful as reveals one man's struggle as he realises that God is who He says He is. Reluctant he may have been, but reasons shows it as truth. Good movie

I was disappointed with the beginning of the DVD. It was full of camera men and people taking part. It was also very dark in parts and the sound was not wonderful. It was informative but one would not have thought it was a Christian story, except for the title, until the very end. Only my opinion - other people might think differently.

  • Question
    Lesley Cohen

I want to show a film in church to a group of about 20 people for 3 sessions during Lent. I will show sections in the film and discuss it in the group. I obtained the film "Risen" from you and discovered that it is not covered by our CCLI licence so we can't use it. Before I buy another film I want to ensure that I can show it in the way I have outlined. The film I am considering is "The reluctant convert" .Please respond quickly as the first session in booked for the 22nd February and I need to give notice of the change of film.

As we are not the publisher of this film nor are we the licencing authority I would suggest that you speak with CCLI for more information and or the Film Bank Media. I realise that this does not answer your question but I would not like to provide you with inaccurate information.
