The Anglican Communion: Renewing our Common Life

USPG Partners in Global Mission

Posted 5 days ago

USPG is pleased to invite you to a timely and thought-provoking webinar exploring the deep structural and theological challenges facing the Anglican Communion today — and offering a constructive vision for its renewal. Drawing on his PhD research, Chris Dowdeswell argues that the Communion’s crisis cannot be explained only by its most visible disagreements (human sexuality, episcopal authority, scriptural interpretation), but points instead to a deeper failure: the loss of the contemplative and communal reasoning that once lay at the heart of the Elizabethan Settlement. This webinar will offer not only diagnosis, but also a reasonable hope for the future, proposing a model of Spirit-led discernment grounded in perspective-taking, behavioural science, social brain research, and postmetaphysical philosophy — aiming to move beyond factionalism toward renewed common life.

“For Christ is our Peace” – USPG Annual Conference 2026

USPG Partners in Global Mission

Posted 6 days ago

Join us for USPG’s annual conference as we gather to reflect, learn, worship, and connect with friends and partners from across the global Anglican Communion. Set in the peaceful surroundings of High Leigh Conference Centre, this three-day event offers space to engage deeply with Scripture, hear from inspiring speakers, and explore how the Church is called to respond to a world marked by division and conflict. Theme Rooted in Ephesians 2:14 “For he is our peace…”, this year’s conference will explore the Church’s role as an agent of peace in a time of global uncertainty. As geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts, and deepening social divides shape our world, we will reflect together on what it means to follow Christ faithfully today. Through the lens of Just Peace, we will examine how Christian discipleship calls us not only to reconciliation but also to challenge and transform unjust systems that create division, deprivation, damage, and destruction. Together, we will consider how our faith and hope in the risen Christ can reshape our understanding of peace—not as the absence of conflict, but as healing and reconciling presence in the midst of it. The 3-day residential conference will feature a host of guest speakers from across the Anglican Communion, Bible studies and participatory workshops. Plus plenty of opportunity for discussion with fellow delegates and time for fellowship and worship together. There is also the option to attend for the day on Wednesday 3rd June. Testimonials from our 2025 Conference: "One of the best conferences I've been to. The use of video conferencing was excellent (10 out of 10 for those who made this work so well) as not to have Fr Wadie there would have been a real shame. He was excellent, as were all the main speakers and those who led the workshops and the worship. I enjoyed meeting other delegates." "This was one of the best organised and best run conferences I've ever attended - and the worship was without question among the best conference worship I've experienced... It also made it a joy to have the members of the world-wide advisory group there, so that there were a significant number of diverse perspectives represented. Absolutely fantastic - it enriched all the discussions and took the event from being a conference about the world church to feeling more like a conference of the world church."
