Debuting the first Christmas album of his career, 2 times GRAMMY winner Matt Redman will unveil These Christmas Lights on October 21.

Filled with powerful and diverse collaborations, featured artists on the album include longtime friends Natasha Bedingfield, Chris Tomlin and Tasha Cobbs. These Christmas Lights finds Redman sharing his interpretation on quintessential holiday songs, along with creating new, originals including "His Name Shall Be," "Help from Heaven," the title track and more.

"I don't want to just tell a story, I want to make sure that we put ourselves in the story too. To help with the songwriting on this record, I actually went on a retreat to Israel. We reenacted, walking through the old roads that Jesus would have walked, going to some of the key places where key events of the gospel happened when Jesus walked this Earth. Thinking a lot about Him coming as a little newborn baby," shares Redman. "We worked very hard on this record. I'm so grateful and aware of the collaboration, the team effort. Lots of people just digging deep, bringing their creativity, time and gifting their experience on this record. There's definitely a sense of family, collaboration and friendship."

As the writer of many of the most popular worship songs like "10,000 Reasons", "Blessed Be Your Name," "The Heart Of Worship," and "Once Again," Matt Redman's songs are sung by millions of people every Sunday. Matt has a unique ability to craft songs that teach deep spiritual truths and remind us of God's steadfastness. Matt has been involved in leading at the Passion Conferences for years, most recently at the Passion conferences in Atlanta and Houston (see Even So Come) with over 30,000 university students. Along with Louie Giglio, Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels and Kristian Stanfill, Matt was one of the founding members of Passion City Church in Atlanta.

In what feels long overdue, Matt Redman has released a Christmas album! As you would expect from the creator of 10,000 Reasons and Unbroken Praise, it's incredibly moving, festive, and worship-filled. But these aren't just songs to play in the background whilst you eat mince pies and sprouts.

These Christmas Lights is as much an expression of worship as it is a collection of carols. This is an album which celebrates Jesus' life in its entirety, and all that it means for us today.

The opening, and title, track kicks off the album with a celebration of the wonder and majesty of Christmas. Light and hope are here (and throughout the album) inseparable, painting Jesus' birth with an explosion of brightness and feeling:

'Open my eyes

O, heart believe

The wonder of that Christmas night

Be born in me'

Following on, His Name Shall Be feels at home in a Christmas service as it does anytime of year and furthers the infectious hope that runs throughout the album. Its chorus is one which takes iconic verses of Jesus coming and lifts them up with soaring vocal cues and peeling bells.

But this album is as devoted to its message as its sound. So much so that Matt Redman even travelled to the Holy Land in order to better understand and connect with the prevailing message of Jesus' life and the hope that it brings. Seeing in person the streets and alleys and roads the saviour walked.

These Christmas Lights isn't all Matt, however...

Joining in are Chris Tomlin, Tasha Cobbs, and Natasha Bedingfield: all bringing their unique voices to celebrate Chirstmas' lasting light.

So, as the nights get dark, let These Christmas Lights fill your Christmas with luminous glory of Jesus' birth and discover songs you'll be singing for many more Christmases to come.

This is a beautiful album of worship songs for Christmas that I am playing daily! I love the fact that Matt went to Israel to spend time there before writing these songs and collaborating with others such as Chris Tomlin and Natasha Bedingfield. This album has very quickly become a favourite to listen to and worship along with.

Listened through once. Pleasant enough. Couple of nice songs, but just more of what's come before. I need to study the lyrics a bit more closely to see if the words inspire me more than the music - that is the point really, isn't it? At least there were no songs I actually disliked, which is not always the case with a new CD.

As always the quality of Matt Redman's music is stellar, and the album is enjoyable, although it seemed in places a little less jovial than you would imagine for a festive album.
