Seven Advent Candle tips to make your Advent memorable and safe:

1. Ensure your candle is firmly upright and the holder is on a stable surface.

2. Ensure the wick is upright and in line with the candle. If needed, trim to about 1/2" (1 centimetre).

3. Use a taper to light the candle exposing the full wick to the taper flame.

4. To relight, ensure the wax pool is clear of debris. Don't move the wick from its old shape.

5. Extinguish the candle with a snuffer. Don't damage the wick or the lip of the wax pool.

6. Keep at least 2' (60 centimetres) of head-space above the flame and any surface or material.

7. NEVER LEAVE BURNING CANDLES UNATTENDED.

These were purchased this year, to go with the advent ring we bought from Eden a couple of years ago. Last time we bought the symbolic pink, purple/blue set but these somehow feel more festive. The candles look stunning with the green and red foliage our amazing florists put around the ring. They are easy to light with either a match or taper - we have used both. I guess to sum up "it does what is says on the tin!"

These candles are a lovely size and fit nicely with the holders that you can buy separately for them. The only thing I am unsure of is the wick on one of them not sure it’s going to get a full usage!

With more awareness now of the toxins being breathed in by standard paraffin made candles, could Eden promote more sustainable and ethical healthy candles please? And a way to make them more affordable as soy beeswax and other non toxic ingredients are more expensive! I’m looking for such advent candles that are non toxic, can you help?
