The study notes are very helpful and comprehensive. The font is a better size for me than the font on the ESV Personal size Study Bible. I can manage to read both the main text and the study notes. I could not read the study notes in the ESV Personal size Study Bible. I wear varifocal glasses and am of pension age.

I am delighted with the amount of material included in the study bible. It is a hefty tome, helpful for keep fit as well as spiritual study. I am particularly delighted in the balanced approach. Nowhere is this demonstrated better than in the introduction article about Revelation. Here you will find a clear description of the different interpretative schools of thought without any ridiculing of any or overtly giving a preference. The reader is left to decide for themselves. I really appreciate this descriptive rather than prescriptive approach, and this alone makes this better than most study bibles. I could not, for instance, keep patience with the MacArthur Study Bible for the same reason - it is prescriptive and really does not allow you to think for yourself and reach your own conclusions before God and with the help of the Holy Spirit. This volume may not be as pretty or as colourful as, say, the illustrated NLT Study bible, but the notes - in my opionion - are better. This is the best Study Bible I have bought so far. But the new NIV Study Bible (2020 fully revised edition) looks like it could be just as good or better... Maybe I will have to begin saving my pennies.
