Knowing God is a whole new kind of book for young children. Written by Cannon J. John, whose books have opened up Theology and Bible study for many, this pre-school children's book takes a different approach to most other Bible story books.

Instead of merely telling stories of what happened in the Bible, Knowing God distills powerful Theology into simple words and ideas. It shows all those stories from the Bible are so important, and it shows what it can mean to really know God.

In Knowing God, faith is an adventure!

Children will discover how God can be their friend, and what that means.

The life-filled illustrations throughout Knowing God are as timeless as the ideas they show. They all help to make the book a colourful guide to faith.

Whether you are looking to give story-time new depth, or are looking to try something different in Sunday School, Knowing God is here for you. It's a message that will never grow old, and the start of an adventure to last a lifetime. It shows how there is nothing more exciting than the privilege of Knowing God!

Winner of Christian Children’s Book of the Year 2018 and Eden’s Children’s Book of the Year 2018.

J.John is described as a creative speaker with an appeal that transcends gender, age, race, culture and occupation. His much-loved art of storytelling helps people to discover spiritual meaning in a way that makes sense of everyday life.

This following information is taken from Wikipedia:

J.John was born on 2 June 1958 in London, England to his parents, George and Helen Ioannou. J.John's Greek name is Iouannes Iouannon; which translates as John John. His parents were owners and managers of a local restaurant in London. He studied psychology at Hendon College London from 1974 – 1976, where in 1975 he was introduced to Christianity by a friend, the Reverend Andy Economides.

Before working in Christian ministry, J.John started his career in 1976 as a psychiatric nurse at Napsbury Hospital in St Albans, England.

In 1978, J.John studied theology at St John's Theological College, Nottingham, England. In 1980, while studying theology at St John's, J.John worked at the Christian Renewal Centre in Northern Ireland. During this time he took part in reconciliation work as a member of the community, including volunteering at a local prison.

Later, J.John became Director of Evangelism at St Nicholas' Church in Nottingham, England, under the leadership of David and Joyce Huggett. While spearheading evangelism work within the church, he also began his work as an itinerant evangelist. During these years, his time was spent travelling the country and speaking at universities, churches and other venues.

Life's a big and sometimes scary adventure. Like all adventures, it's good to have someone with you and I want to tell you how you can know God as your friend.

This beautifully illustrated book effectively holds the child's hand and clearly leads them to meet God, learn about him and, most importantly, come to be his friend.

Really well written guide to who the God of the bible is and how children can know and trust him. Children will be able to engage with and learn from this fun book. It's simple to follow and like all the Theology For Little Peope series by J.John is well crafted and illustrated. Eden have got the age range wrong though as this book is really for children seven and under. 6-12 is stated as the category but is clearly wrong as this group would find the text and graphics to simplistic.
