One woman opens her heart and life to an extraordinary God, stopping at nothing to take him at his word.

Susie Howe mobilizes others to fight injustice against the poorest of the world’s poor: those with HIV, orphans, street children, and persecuted 'child witches'. We go on a sweeping journey from a mud hut in remote Zimbabwe, down the back streets of Manila in the Philippines; from the jungles of the Democratic Republic of Congo to war-torn northern Uganda.

Meet some of the unsung heroes who bring life, hope and transformation to individuals and whole communities.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

Every so often a book comes along that is anything but easy to read. Susie Howe's story of the work she does across the globe is one of them. In her work as an HIV Specialist nurse Susie has seen some of the horror of what man can do with man, especially when driven by superstition. Behaviour including the rape of virgins in the mistaken belief that sexual intercourse with a virgin will cure them of AIDS, something that has in many African countries contributed to the explosion of AIDS on that Continent. The “exorcism” and physical abuse of children thought to be witches, a practice that came over to the UK and led to the death of Victoria Climbie. The systematic, government sponsored culling of street children. When reading this book it is easy to get angry, and this is the point of the book. The Bible does not tell us not to get angry. Instead it tells us that in our anger we must not sin. Jesus got angry. He got angry with the Pharisees, those selling “clean animals” or changing Roman money to temple money to pilgrims at extortionate rates, and with death. Its fine for us to get angry with what we read, but we need not to sit there and do nothing. This book is not just a recount of Susie Howe's experiences. It is a call to action. As God asked Isaiah, who will act to stop these injustices?
