This story of Don's dreadful accident, declared dead and waiting for the coroner, and the prayers of a passing Minister who obeyed God's instruction to pray for a dead body, and the resulting return to earth from heaven, followed by years of surgeries, pain and suffering, is truly inspirational. It is wonderful to read of his abiding memories of the smells and sounds and feelings of heaven, and gives us all who have Jesus as our Saviour an abiding hope for the future.

This is a gripping book which challenged my perception of God at work, my concept of the power of prayer and whether I really listen to God instructing me. But above all this account is a huge encouragement that heaven is real and more glorious than I could ever have imagined. No-one could have made up the description of heaven that Don Piper gives, and it has made me look forward even more to the day I will see people I have known, fulled restored and fully able. This book is an honest account which faces head-on the scepticism that people express about such accounts, and Don is very open about his true feelings of anger with God that he came back after 90 minutes and his initial reticence to tell this story. It will impact both Christians and non-Christians and has already changed lives. People to whom I have lent or recommended this book have already been blown away by its content and have found it spell-binding. I don't have time to read many books, but this one captured my heart and my mind. What ever your view of God and Christianity this is a very honest and challenging book.
