Since 1914 Cambridge has published The Elements of New Testament Greek, a best-selling textbook for scholars and students of the Bible.

The original book by Nunn was replaced and succeeded in 1965 by J. W. Wenham's book of the same title; now Jeremy Duff has produced a new book to continue this long-established tradition into the twenty-first century. Learning Greek is a journey of many steps. In this book each of these steps is explained clearly, and reviewed using questions and exercises. Lessons are ordered so the most important aspects of Greek are learnt first and the vocabulary consists of the most commonly occurring words in the New Testament. Hundreds of examples cover every book of the New Testament and there is a New Testament passage to translate in almost every chapter.

An audio CD containing vocabulary lists, reading passages and paradigms is also available to accompany this book. Free software and teaching resources are also available at the book's website.

  • Step-by-step approach genuinely assuming no prior knowledge of language learning
  • Over 1500 practice questions and exercises with answers provided
  • An audio CD with vocabulary from the book is also available

Thank you Eden for so quickly getting this book to me which I required for a course but was told quite late in the day that I would need it. The book itself is great for study and clearly laid out.

This is my quick and easy guide to words whenever I sit down to read the NT in Greek. it is ideal for quiet reading of a chapter or two. Of course, you do need a passing understanding of Greek to know where to find the words, so it isn't an entry-level to learning Greek, just a small dictionary and glossary to help the casual reader. Try John H Dobson (1988) Learn New Testament Greek if you are a complete newby. Similarly, it is not an in-depth dictionary that goes into the huge series of possible meanings. For that I recommend Thayer. But, I would never be without this nice, well-laid-out and accessible wee dictionary. Excellent.
