Once described as one of Liberia’s most feared warlords, General Butt Naked was radically transformed into a charismatic evangelist reaching out to those he mutilated and radicalised. ‘The Redemption of an African Warlord’ is his shocking, but redemptive story.

Beginning life as a pagan priest in a local tribe, he transformed himself into a notorious warlord naming himself General Butt Naked. He forced children away from their families to join his war, performed human sacrifices and led hundreds of child soldiers for his cause.

Deeply embedded in African spiritual culture, General Butt Naked believed that by going into battle naked he and his child soldiers would be protected from bullets, hence his name.
