This book tells the stories of lives changed by Street Pastors

You'll be inspired to hit the streets to reach communities

Street Pastors tells the story of a small group of faith-filled Christians who took to the crime-ridden streets of Brixton. Les Isaac was behind this initiative, which helps with binge drinking, loneliness, gang culture, knife and gun crime, violence and fear.

Les Isaac shares his compelling story in Street Pastors. There is a hallmark partnership between local government, police and churches. Les Isaac also points out the benefits for Christian mission and unity.

The idea of Street Pastors has now inspired over 125 teams to serve their communities all over Britain, involving more than three thousand Christians.

Les Isaac is the founder of the Street Pastors initiative. He has worked as a church leader for over twenty years, always seeking to engage with the same hard-to-reach communities that he came from. Les Isaacs has also authored Dreadlocks and Relevant Church and the director of Ascensions Trust, which administrates the Street Pastors scheme.

    The Good Book Stall

The Prologue: Diary of an anonymous Street Pastor, gives a very fair description of what being a street pastor is all about and sets the scene for the rest of the book. Les Isaac tells how the idea evolved into reality and the difficulties encountered on the way. Initially started in Brixton as a project to make the night time streets safer for everyone, the concept has grown beyond all expectations and has become the main task of the Ascension Trust. (See www.streetpastors.co.uk ) The problem of gun and knife crime, binge drinking, gang culture, loneliness, violence and fear has spread far beyond Brixton into many towns and cities throughout our land. Street Pastors is initiated by Christians but is a partnership between local government, police and churches. ‘Street Pastors’ is a registered trademark and this enables Ascension Trust to keep a firm hold on each group that is set up, making sure that they adhere to a common policy while giving them all the help and support they need. Christians do not flaunt their faith, but minister with Christian love and understanding and only talk about their faith or pray with people when invited to do so. This makes working with other secular agencies possible and acceptable to the authorities. Several thousand Christians are now involved throughout our land and many people have been helped and potential violent incidents defused because of their presence. I beg you to read this book and learn more about what is going on largely unseen and unrecognised by those of us who do not go onto the streets at night.
